Every once in-a-while, a Facebook friend will post something that actually makes me stop my scroll through my news feed and think for a second.  Recently, I saw this from a friend, and his words really stuck with me.  I wanted to share them with you all, as it may serve as reminder for you, as it did for me, what true generous love is about:

“If you only love others because of what they do for you and how they make you feel, it no longer is love. It’s conditional affection. Many of my single friends remain this way because they focus too much on what they feel that they deserve to receive instead of what they feel required to give. Love gives first and accepts love in return if it comes, but does not feel let down if it doesn’t. You can love others regardless of how they feel about you. Your love is your choice. If you only love others because of what they do for you and how they make you feel, it no longer is love. It’s conditional affection.”
