Creating media buzz is an interesting phenomena.  Some people hire professionals to do this because they have the connections and will spend their energies focused on getting you promoted.  Then, others like myself in start-up mode tend to pay in the currency of hugs and ‘thank you’s’ more than actual greenbacks.  This only takes you so far.

That leaves me with good old grassroots and guerrilla marketing efforts.  I recently did a soft launch of my long-awaited kids book series (volume 1) and am learning how to leverage press in the big magazines.  So far so good with a recent Inc mention, and now a full article in Forbes! Right after that appearance, I was able to be quoted and get links out to my website again in Inc. and in The Agency Post.  Not sure if you can create a media frenzy with one PR post here and there, but hey, here’s to trying!  Thank goodness I did an 8 week PR internship after college…
